it was too good to be true when the volturi left in peace, everyone always knew that. every vampire at that 'council' in the clearing knew one day the royalty of the vampire world would be back to collect on their loan of peace. but when they did it was to great effect, because they chose to collect on the one thing that could pull the cullen family apart at the seams, destroy the coven that had once so embarrased them. it was a moonless night when they appeared in the woods. no warning, no time to mount an assault to meet them. even the wolves couldn't be got. it was just the cullens vs the volturi. hence the reason only edward went to meet them, hoping to soothe the cracks and buy them more time. but that was not to be. the volturi had decided what they wanted from the golden-eyes. they wanted to take renesmee with them to volterra for a 'while' - wanting to test the 'capabilities' of this new breed. it was a decision that no father should have to make, his daughter for a few short weeks or his entire family put in danger again, he had already put them through so much. he chose what he thought was right for the family as a whole. he didn't consult any other members of the coven, he just went back into the house and lied that the volturi were gone again, but he wanted to take renesmee hunting. it was a good thing alice was out or he would have been exposed immediately. he led his baby girl out the house and handed her over after making them swear they wouldn't harm her in anyway. and despite nessie's struggles to get back to her mother's side they took her; alec knocking her out as they carried her off. then edward returned to break the truth; and possibly break his family apart. who knows if he'd be forgiven.
but what of all the other vampires that stood against the volturi? what price have they paid for backing the wrong side in a battle with no sound reasoning? well it's as high as the cullen's. suddenly they're all under the spotlight, one step out of line and they find themselves at the mercy of the volturi's 'justice'. any kills that are sloppy, any excuse or bad behaviour is jumped on with fervour and those vampires are 'dealt' with. lovers have been lost, covens have been torn to pieces and immortal lives have been ruined. it seems the volturi aren't happy to have been so embarassed, and they're taking care to get their revenge as painfully as possibly. but where will they hit next? the denali coven? the nomadic couples? no one can tell anymore, so everyone's living on the edge.
the shapeshifters haven't been living in peace either. jake, leah and seth found their way back into the main pack through a loop hole in the magic that binds them, but the threat that jacob might one day take the rights of the alpha again has put a strain on the relationship between him and sam, and seven years has done nothing to alleviate it, if anything it's increased. and with new shapeshifters appearing la push that no one ever expected the situation is becoming more and more tense with every passing day. the wolves don't feel they can control themselves, so how can they protect the humans under their charge? truce lines need to drawn, or a repeat of seven years before could soon be on the cards. and that would cause even more harm to the very peace that they are trying to maintain. it's a no win situation, but who is going to lose most?
the entire world is up in arms and no one is sure of who's the hero and who's the villain anymore. i suppose that's up to you to decide.
