~ about me :
Riley is a shy girl. Protected for most of her life, Riley rather to be caught up in her mother’s fairy tale stories and hide in a cloud of make believe rather than face the truth. It suited her father and brother quite well as they usually didn’t tell her the truth, mainly for her own safety. Riley likes to keep to herself, remarkably independent, she likes to cook for the two packs and care for them. She carries this trait from her mother and her grandmother who were both essential the den mother of sorts. Although she is protected, Riley too has that protective nerve in her body. Looking out for the ones she loves most, Riley would stop at nothing to protect her father and more importantly Arnon. Riley is quite athletic, she enjoys any physical activity and loves to keep fit and eating healthy. She is not a real social person but chooses to stay close to Arnon and routinely Maxim. She knew that if Maxim did anything to put her in danger he would be at fists range of Arnon. For the most part, Riley keeps to herself.

[/li][li]River and Arnon – Riley loves nothing more than her own biological father and brother. Looking out for her elder brother Arnon has always been a huge responsibility she has given herself.
[/li][li]Her mother – Riley has always loved her mother and although she deludes herself that her mother is still out there somewhere. She hopes that one day her mother will come back for her.
[/li][li]Cooking – Not many of the other women in either pack really cook, so Riley took it upon herself to learn the skills of preparing the perfect meal. With double the amount of mouths to feed, Riley is always learning new culinary traits.
[/li][li]Reading – Riley is not a book worm by any means, but her kind, softer nature has lead her to retreat to books. She loves nothing more than to have her mind whisked away in fairytales and mystery, those other than the one she lives every day. She also enjoys the regular hot and steamy romance book but she often reads them at night away from her brother and fathers eyes. They way they are going it’s the only romance she will ever see in her life.
[/li][li]Swimming – Riley loves nothing more than to swim in the cool waters of the lake nearby the Anathema house. Keeping herself in shape is one of the more important things and as such, Riley keeps herself on a pretty strict diet and exercise routine.

~ i hate : 3+ dislikes
[/li][li]Underestimating her ability – Riley is just as capable as any other shifter in either of the packs. Being slightly smaller in both human and shifter size, the pack automatically assumes that she is not as capable as the others and often give her lighter duties to fulfil. For this reason, Riley is forever trying to prove herself to both packs. She knows she has the edge they want.
[/li][li]Vampires – it comes with the territory and the breeding. Her brother, her father, everyone around her hates vampires. It is instilled in their blood and preached to them that this is what they must do in life, their mission. It is natural for Riley to share the same hatred for these creatures.
[/li][li]Bread and Pasta – Riley being the health freak she is, tries to stay away from carbohydrates as much as possible. However, her brother and father both believe carbohydrates are essential for energy and strength during shifting and so she is forced to eat a small amount, she hates it though with a passion and the thoughts weigh heavily on her mind later on.
[/li][li]Getting her brother out of stupid messes – Riley just wished her brother was not so head strong. Ever since she was born, Riley has found herself coming to her brothers aid, telling tall tales to get him out of trouble, coming to his rescue. He always vows that she is the one that is needing protection, Riley does not believe that, not for one minute.

~ history :
From the day she was born, Riley had always lived a sheltered life. Always protected, always safe, Riley never really had any worries in her life. There was always someone there for her and there still is to this day. She is thankful that she has such a loving and supportive family and would never trade them for the world. It is not often that Riley looks back on her childhood, it is something she would rather keep hidden. Stored away with the 100’s of fairytales she keeps in her head. Unfortunately her childhood was anything but a fairytale.
Riley was born the youngest of two, just a year younger than her elder brother Arnon. She was the daughter of a bear and of a wolf, quite weird if you thought about it, it still puzzled Riley to this day. Her mother, was the most beautiful of young women, with hair, long and golden, she had a smile that hypnotised a room, her eyes warmed the heart of anyone she met and her voice soothed your soul. Her mother, was the princess in this story and her father, was the prince. He was a strong built man, tall, dark and handsome as they call it these days. He was tough and he was courageous, he was the leader of knights, a true hero in her own mind. Her brother, well he took after their father in so many ways, he too was tall dark and handsome even as a child. He too carried the same rugged charm as their father. Albeit he caused a little trouble from time to time, Riley always found herself bailing him out, but there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her older brother. They were the perfect family. Riley’s head was always off with the fairies and at night she would often dream of lions, tigers, bears and other wild animals roaming free and working together to protect each other. The animals could talk and although strange, it made some sense in Riley’s mind.
Riley’s life was very carefree and effortless. Her childhood was easy. She would stick to her brother’s side, claiming him as her own play thing and follow him everywhere. To her, Arnon was the best thing in the world, nothing could defeat him. Riley was also a daddy’s girl, she loved nothing than to be close to him and spend as much time as possible, at night, Riley loved nothing more than to sit down with her mother by the warm fires side and read fairytales together. Riley was an active kid, considering she was somewhat shy, she loved physical activity where she could push herself further and further. It was from an early age that Riley found that she had quite the young athlete. The one thing Riley enjoyed more than anything though, was going out on the water, in boats, canoes or just swimming Riley was out there. She loved summer so much just so that it was warm enough for her to go swimming. With the security of her family, Riley was quite outgoing and found herself talking copious amounts, asking questions, telling stories, anything that would require discussion, Riley was there. Riley was known around the place as the little princess and that’s just how she liked it.
It was the year however when Riley turned 3, that her fairy tale started to crumble before her. Previously mentioned, Riley's’life was somewhat sheltered, her brother, her mother and her father all keeping certain truths about happenings away from her in order to ‘protect’ her. Riley was sound asleep in her room, upstairs from the main living room. She had just lost a discussion about how unfair it was that Arnon got to stay up later just because he was a year older and as such, Riley had gone up to her room alone frustrated with everything that had just occurred. Filtering up from the stairwell however, Riley knew that there was more happening downstairs than just a story or watching some TV. Riley could hear groans, she could hear hurried murmurs and hushed whispers, obviously trying not to wake her. Seriously, who went to sleep instantly? Little did she know that downstairs, her Uncle Yash was collapsed half dead on the floor in front of the fire, his body limp and drained. Riley heard more people, more members of the palace guard that came in to help and that was all that could be heard as Riley hushed off into a dead night sleep. Wondering if it was a dream at all, the horrible moaning sounds she heard the night before. Riley asked her mother and was simply told that she must have had a horrible nightmare. It was Arnon though that showed the truth. After knowing there was more to it than just a silly nightmare, Riley asked Arnon and his face dragged instantly. Riley knew from that moment not to ask any more questions, to just let things be as they were.
Things only started to crumble apart further from that night on. Her family continued to shut her out, seclude her from the real happenings of her kingdom. The turrets were being bombed and the moats were being crossed, the castle would soon be under siege. Within the year, Riley had found herself reading more with her mother, spending more time with her and less time with the men. Riley really didn’t mind, she was oblivious to the fact until she was older, right there in that time, the mind of a four year old was very one tracked. It was easily bought with candy and surprises. One night though, Riley sat at the fire and waited for her mother to come home. Every night they would read a story together by the fire. Her father had come in and told her that mommy was busy and she would not be home tonight. Carrying the book up to her room, Riley sat alone and read the fairytale until she fell asleep. It wasn’t that her father didn’t want to read with her, it was just that it was her mother’s thing, something only they did together. The next morning Riley woke up for breakfast and bound downstairs eager to see her mother. To her shock, Arnon sat at the table with an upset look upon his face ready for school, his first year. Her father was cooking eggs and toast. Without a word Riley sat down at the table and began to eat. It was only after breakfast that Riley had forgotten herself and asked “where’s mommy?”. Riley knew by the way that Arnon looked at her father that he knew more than what he was letting on and that her father simply didn’t have the answers for her.
Upset and confused, Riley started making the stories up in her head about where possibly her mother could be. Maybe she was an astronaut, or a scuba diver, Riley liked that thought very much, maybe she could have gone swimming with mommy wherever she was. Her father seemed to be gone for long periods of time and Riley started to wonder if infact daddy was going to see mommy without telling Riley. In the short times that he was at home Riley would make it her mission to ask various questions about her mother’s location. “Is mommy on holiday?”, “Is she buying Arnon’s birthday cake?”, “Is she in Australia?” Riley wouldn’t stop until she found the answer she was looking for. Little did little Riley know that the correct answer was not what she wanted to hear. As time went on, Riley became more closeted, shy and quiet. She stuck close to her father, knowing that it took less time to go on a holiday or buy a cake than it did for her mother to come home. Every now and again Riley would tug on her father’s leg look up to him and ask “when’s mommy coming home daddy?” She never knew if he had the nerve to tell her the truth. After a certain time, Riley tried to block out any information about her mother, she grew numb and retreated into her own quiet shell. She just didn’t want to know about it. With his prolonged stays away from the house, Riley became more and more dependent on her father and made it her mission to stay by her father’s side, clinging to him to make sure he didn’t leave them. She would find herself some nights in states of panic just hoping daddy didn’t run away with mommy.
Instead, as Riley grew older, she focused her attention to books, reading her fairytales and as she grew older, countless novels on her summer reading lists for school. Arnon had even gone out of his way to pay Riley to read some of his books and tell him what they were about so he could spend more time playing with the local boys. Riley didn’t mind, her friends were her books. Riley always did well at school and pushed herself to study hard. Still now in high school, Riley is at the top of every class, straight A’s. Riley was not popular, she left that side of social society up to her brother who was the court jester. Always making people laugh, including her, Arnon always made her smile. There was no extent that her brother wouldn’t stop at to make her happy, if only he could bring back their mom. On the one side of Arnon was the happy go lucky comedian, on the other, the tough protector of hearts. Ever since their mothers ‘vacation’, as Riley liked to put it Arnon was under her fathers call to protect Riley at any cost. As frustrating as it was, Riley was humbled by the fact that she had a brother that cared so much for her.
At the age of 13 however, Riley had her first crush and started showing interest in a boy. Before Riley could even make a move, Arnon had the boy thumped and bruised and transferred to another school. How was it that obvious? That she could have feelings for someone else? How was it that her brother could see that and so selfishly take it away from her. Riley knew from that point in time that her brother was never going to allow her the freedom to make mistakes and discover for herself life’s important lessons. Riley hoped and dreamed that one day she would find a man just like her brother and father to be her very own but not if he was going to be one that stopped her from experiencing life. Riley was in between a rock and a hard place. She knew why her father was doing this, he loved her, he didn’t want her to go on a ‘vacation’ like her mother. They both loved her, however, Riley couldn’t help but feel a little resentment as she felt like Repunzel, with hair of gold stranded at the top of a tall tower away from anything dangerous, with only the company of her books. Her brother and father were like the guards of sleeping beauty, burning all the spindles in the land to ensure that she did not prick her finger. Riley wasn’t even allowed around the rest of the families friends, the ones that lived with her, but that all changed by the time she was 16.
It was at the age of 15 however that Riley had found herself pushed up a grade in school. Now level with her brother, it only made it easier for him to secretly ensure her safety. She took pride in the fact that she was intelligent, but the penalty was the she was closer to her brother.
A year earlier, Riley had noticed a change in Arnon, he had grown excessively bulky and a lot tougher than she had ever pictured him. She didn’t know why he had changed but Riley noticed an increase in her protection at the same time. She chose not to question it, like everything else in her life she knew that it would just be filtered out and fumbled over, the truth kept at arm’s length in order to protect her. With Arnon’s change, so did their family. From being full of friends to being just the three of them, Riley faced meeting new friends and old, some she had trouble even imagining if they were the same people. Arnon’s old friend Maxim had changed drastically from his childhood frame. Meeting all these friendly people, Riley just knew something was beginning to right itself in the world once again. She still felt left out however, her father and brother still keeping secrets from her, Riley once again decided to stay oblivious to the hints that were being clumsily left behind. Sure enough in that year, Riley would also experience the same changes. Little did she know that during her entire childhood, the ancestry of the bear remained hidden from her. On the day that her body raged an uncontrollable heat, a temperature unresolved from any amount of swimming, and soared into the small body of a bear did she realise the lies that were hidden from her her entire life.
Sure enough with every passing day, Riley was shown the ways of her family. Her father was her guide and Arnon helped in showing her the ropes. At this time, Riley was thankful she had moved up a grade earlier on in life. She could now stick with the others of her kind, Arnon, Maxim, they were both like her, just a little different. Her bear build was similar to her human build, small and athletic, agile and quick. Never had she known a bear to be such a thing. As much as Arnon had changed with his initial shift, Riley had not. She still remained the same quiet book loving girl, shy and independent. Her focus now turned to health and fitness, she pushed herself to exercise on a regular basis, she ate extremely well trying to stay in the best health she could possibly be. Riley chooses to stay close to Arnon during most shifts, she prefers his safety and doesn’t want to burdon her father. Oh yeah, did she forget to tell you, her father really was the prince, in fact, he was the leader of the pack and not just one, literally two. He had power over both packs, it amused Riley to no end. Either way, Riley didn’t want to tag along behind her father and annoy him, especially when he had such important work to do. Riley stuck close to Arnon, he never really minded, and when she was alone, she was just that, alone. She spent her time swimming, cooking and reading, she enjoyed it that way. Quiet, alone.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are
Life had become normal. Delta had gone back to school months ago, regrouping and working feverishly as the Principal of Cleveland Heights High School. Scott had gone back to work too. He was successfully running the large music franchise in the city. It had been a few months since the devastating Christmas. The pair had faltered, ignored each other but at the end of the day, were still able to recover the lost ground and work things out. The power of their united love had no boundaries. If anything, her life was becoming a little too normal. The pair hadn’t had a single conflict or disagreement since. Sure, she enjoyed the humble life with her mate by her side, but life was just boring. She wasn’t asking for conflict, she didn’t want to be depressed, what she did want however, was something to make her life a little more interesting. The disappearance of Jason was most definitely felt by Delta. She was the cause of his absence. She was the one that forced him to commit something so horrible, she was the one that just let him run away. It was her fault, entirely. She hadn’t told Scott. She had taken the blame for the child’s death and she had taken the blame for the loss of Jason, but she wasn’t ready for her husband to be even more angry with her. How could she do something so stupid, push away a man’s son when he was so craving the life of a child.
Scott was a little oblivious to the whole ‘son’ thing. Jason was most definitely his son. Although older and independent and completely the wrong species, Jason was in fact his son. When he was around, Delta laughed all too often at the similarities between the two. There was no hiding the truth. Scott really didn’t treat Jason like a son, more of a close friend. Delta made sure in her time with him, that she showed him just what it would be life if she was a mother. Of course, she would never be Jason’s mother, nor would she ever expect to come close to even the consideration she would be able to replace his mother by a 100th of a percent, but she wanted him to know he had a family. She had no children and she intended on working with what she had to build the family she so always desired. Of course she had done this before, the child had run away, leaving the impression of a glow of golden hair in her mind. It seemed like history was repeating itself. Maybe she just wasn’t cut out to be a mother. Maybe that’s why she was turned, maybe fate had a firmer grasp on reality than she thought.
It was early morning, the sun was yet to kiss the tops of the ice capped mountains that surrounded their home. It was early, but it was normal, she was used to leaving him at this time every day. Sure the life of a rock star was glamorous, no matter how ancient your fame was. For Delta, life was almost the same as if she was human. She had to be up this early to get ready for school, do some light cleaning and drive into the city. Every morning she would bend over him, the both of them still as awake as ever lean in and give him a quiet kiss on the lips. For vampires, they couldn’t sleep, but at 5am in the morning after a hunt, it was the sleepiest state a vampire could achieve. The bloodlust hadn’t stopped with Scott. He still overindulged in humans almost every night. He came in most nights reeking of human blood. It made it almost impossible for Delta to retain her vegetarian habits, but she knew that she was doing the right thing, repaying her sins in the only way she knew how. Still, this light kiss on his lips of a morning was the only indulgence she would allow herself, a pick me up for the start of a new day.
Delta chose to get ready in her own room. Sure, the couple had worked things out and they were now back to sharing the same bedroom, but Delta still had her own private space, a new piano and a few new furnishings. It was better for her to get ready for the day there. That way she wouldn’t disturb her husband. She couldn’t quite explain it, but in their average human-like lives, Delta found herself resorting back to more human instincts. She knew Scott wasn’t sleeping, but she liked to play the fantasy out in her head that he was. Delta chose an outfit and applied her makeup in her dressing room. Brushing her hair and forcing some artificial curls, Delta looked in the mirror for a moment of reflection. Sure, the woman staring back at her was confident, outgoing, strong, well kempt, but in reality, there was something missing. Her heart longed for things. Some of these things, there was a possibility they would come to her, others, she knew would never happen. Delta looked down at her flat stomach, embellished with a line of pearlescent buttons. She rolled her hand down and then back up again, feeling the emptiness inside of her. Her hand continued up her chest and to her throat, with every thought, she had forgotten about her thirst. She wasn’t one to risk the children’s lives at school with her reckless behaviour, but Delta really didn’t have time to hunt this morning before school, it would just have to wait.
The sun started to peer over the mountain range, speckles of light darting through the non tessellated gaps within the canopy of the trees. The day was going to be beautiful, she was sure that the sky would be crystal and the warm glow from the sun would penetrate the atmosphere. She would have to stay inside today, but she knew that she could enjoy the glorious wonders of the spring/summer transition. Delta went to the kitchen and wrote Scott a note in her fluid handwriting. Just like she did everyday, she sent her husband a loving not to ponder for the day. It was then that Delta picked up on the sounds that were now circulating outside the manors main door. Scuffling and shoving and the distinct thump of a fist against the door before it vanished. They had a doorbell, why didn’t they just ring that. The whole idea of the doorbell was to stop people, namely vampires, putting large dints in the ancient carved main doors. Delta rushed to the door. Thanks to Scott’s and Delta’s days with the Istinto Coven, of which Scott founded, the manor was far too well known by the vampire world. Usually it was someone seeking refuge, wanting an escape from something, a nomad on most occasions. Delta often rejected the claims and proposals. She didn’t need every single vampire sleeping under her roof, if she allowed one, she would have to allow them all.
Delta raced for the door, she didn’t need them forcing their way through like others had in the past. Turning the handle on the old wooden doors, they came ajar and a strong scent lifted her. It was familiar, that much she was sure. It was not human, it was definitely not vampire, it was shifter. The scent reminded her of Jason. Delta had taken it upon herself to get aquainted with his scent after leaving. She vowed she would sniff is clothing, the few items that he had left at the manor, everyday until she the scent was so familiar to her. She knew it was completely stupid, but she needed to. If she ever travelled somewhere and came across the scent, she could seek out the source and hopefully find him. If he ever returned, she would know immediately. The later had come to pass and she was thankful that she could now not only recognise the scent, but tolerate it that much easier. Delta pushed the door open and screamed out his name. She wasn’t entirely sure if it was him, the sent itself carried a somewhat dusty, sweaty stench to it, more so than what she had acquired. It may not have been him and as she peered at the tall damaged thing that was walking away from her doorstep, she didn’t know what to think.
This wasn’t Jason, he was a much more refined man and carried himself with much pride and dignity, not the doubled over wreck of a person she saw before her. “Jason?” She questioned this time as she took a step out onto the porch, her heeled feet kicking up against something, a small wooden casket of sorts. Ignoring it, she focused her attention back to the man. “Is that you?” Tears streamed from her eyes as a smile rose on her cheeks. She couldn’t believe her eyes, was it really him? It was then at that moment he turned around to look back at her. Sure enough, through the dirt, dust, sweat and a mass of tangled long hair, Delta saw the pair of caring, compassionate eyes that belonged to her step son. “Oh my,” she gasped lightly as she held a hand to her mouth. How could she have let this happen. How could she lead him to believe he was the cause of all this turmoil? How could she let him torture himself like this. Sure she had spent countless weeks searching the surrounding areas for him, but he was nowhere to be found. She wasn’t prepared to go out beyond the limits of the city. She knew that if he had run that far he really needed time alone.
Delta just stared at him, her eyes widened as the sun started to shine down fuller upon him as it rose up into the morning sky. “What have I done,” she whispered again as she continued to look over the dishevelled man. “Jason, I’m sorry” she apologised immediately; after all, she was the only one that could be blamed for this mistake. After this time, Delta stood there, her feet bucked up against the box, just staring. She didn’t want to approach him; she didn’t know where she still stood with him. She also didn’t want to approach his personal space, by the looks of him; he had a lot of mental demons he needed to vanquish. Delta pulled herself together, wiping the tears from her eyes and boosting the smile on her face. “Welcome home", she greeted with a warm voice. She wasn’t ready to be hostile towards the man, it wasn’t in her nature. For something she had longed for for months, she wasn’t going to push him away again, she refused to.
