There have always been people in the world with extraordinary talents or skills,
with blinding intelligence that pushed human civilisation to new heights. And
there have always been those with more...unusual gifts. People who can
manipulate the elements, read minds, see the future and even communicate with
the dead. Hidden for the most part, they’ve managed to blend into the general
population.
So some have banded together, in small communities and groups, supporting and
helping each other. Thackery Academy is one of these places. Once just a
run-of-the-mill boarding school, it has become a haven for gifted children
– a Shelter. Some are supported by their families. Some are scared and alone,
rejected for what they are. All of them have something in common. Some past
students have even become teachers and instructors themselves.
As far as the citizens of Thunder Rapids are concerned, the Academy on the
outskirts of town is filled with perfectly normal students – rich or genius perhaps,
but still normal. Thackery students are somewhat outsiders in the town, but
welcome enough, as long as they don’t cause too much trouble. Thunder Rapids
itself is a quiet town, where crime is low and people look out for each other,
thought there’s always people that fall through the cracks. The town is nestled in
the forest, with Mount Caldwell shadowing it, and its namesake River winding
around the area.
Students from the town attend Thunder Rapids high, but both schools feed into
Thunder Rapids University College. TRUC is a pretty decent school, and gets a lo
of students from out of state, too.
Every autumn there’s an influx of students as the school year begins...

We accept all kinds of characters, both gifted and normal, student and townie.

Brand new in March 2011, we're looking for characters of all kinds. We have no
word minimum, many location boards and a paid cbox. Despite being on Proboards,
we also have HTML posting for members. Friendly and helpful staff are ready to
answer any questions you might have.
