Alice Cullen can't see werewolves.
That little flaw in her ability changed everything. Jacob managed to get to Bella before she jumped off of the cliff, and, since he was so close, Alice never saw Bella jump. There was no reason for her to return to Forks, and no reason for Edward to go to Italy. The Cullens remained away -Rosalie and Emmett were touring Europe, Alice and Jasper in Alaska with the Denali, and Edward...well, Edward was wandering, unsure just what to do with his life. He felt like a shell of himself.
But he knew this was for the best.
Bella Swan moved on.
She would always love Edward, but another has been there through it all. He pulled her out of her depression, fixed her broken motorcycle, and mended her broken heart. Little by little, Bella opened her heart to Jacob Black. And they're together, now. They're happy (well, Bella's as happy as she can be, anyway).
Until the Cullens return, with the Denali clan in tow.
All of them are back, claiming to bring news of a vampire attack. Alice has seen it. The wolves question the vampires' motives. If the little vampire can't see the wolves, how did she ever see an attack coming? They are wary, but both sides adhere to the Treaty. What else can they do?
Bella is torn between two worlds. One of the living and dead, fire and ice, werewolves and vampires. Edward and Jacob. Who will she choose?
Meanwhile, Jacob Black has his own problems. He and Sam Uley have been getting into it lately over how to run the pack, and Jacob's bloodline is allowing him to get away with things that the others can't. He can disobey Sam easier than anyone else. Sam sees him as a threat, and things between the two wolves are heating up. As if there's not enough to worry about with the vampires returning, the other wolves are imprinting left and right. Quil and Claire. Jared and Kim. And, to Jacob's distaste, Paul and his sister, Rachel.
The Denali claim to have returned in order to aid the Cullens, but their motives might not be all too innocent. Tanya in particular seems interested in a certain Edward Cullen, and she's not going to give up so easily. Will she make a pact with a certain wolf in order to get what she wants?
