For the last year, people in Philadelphia have been going missing. There is
no rhyme nor reason to the cases – just random people, disappearing from
random places. The first to go was a college student, the second was a high
school teacher. Since then, about twenty-four people have disappeared
without a trace. All from different walks of life, all completely different sorts
of people. The only thing tying these cases together being that there was
absolutely nothing to go by. No fingerprints, no signs of a struggle, nothing
left behind. Sure, this could mean nothing, but those behind the investigations
believe it’s high significant.
Around the same time people started disappearing, there have been some “crazies”
coming out of the woodwork. Men and women literally convinced that they
are from Philadelphia, but in the year 1883. They’re dressed to the nines and
while their stories are flawless, this just isn’t possible. Is it?
As it turns out, there’s something strange going on in Philadelphia. When
someone disappears from 2014, someone else appears, drawn forwards from
the year 1883. There’s no way to explain it away, so the government does
their best to keep it quiet. Everyone they find who’s been drawn out of the past
is taken and put into secure custody at the Whitmore Research Facility.
Just what happens to them there, no one except those
who work at the facility – and those who run it – know. There have
been some civilian attempts to find out, and there is an underground
group now in place who’s primary goal is to “rescue” these displaced people
before the government can find them.
On the flip side, the people living in 1883 are just as puzzled. They don’t have
a clue what’s going on but they know they don’t like these strange, immoral
people who keep showing up on their street corners. Some are convinced these
people are practitioners of black magic – the religious don’t like this. There
is persecution of the “people from the future” and those who find
themselves displaced in 1883 had better learn to cope, or hide,
quick. One of the first to “slip” into 1883, Miss Hannah Thorne, has created
a safe house for those who, like her, have slipped into the past.
What side will you be on? Will you persecute, or protect?
Are you afraid to go, if you’re next, or do you look forward to the adventure?
Families will be split up. Lovers parted. Children orphaned.
What’s causing the time split? Can anything be done to stop it?
Tread carefully, you wouldn’t want to take
the slip
