Back tracking to the moment the phone rings at Bella's and Jacob picks it up. What if he hadn't? What if Bella had picked it up? Edward wouldn't have gone to the Volturi. There would be no reason for Bella to save him. No reason for them to know that she is a human who knows entirely too much about vampirers.
Ever since Edward left Jacob has filled in the holes of her heart, making her feel human again. That is a mark that she can't get rid of. What if she doesn't want to get rid of it, what if she wants what she already had, what took Edwards place? What if her heart has changed? With her heart free for him to capture, will Jacob be able to imprint, becoming to Bella what he always desired? ... or will Bella forgive Edward and be willing to work on their relationship?
More and more vampires and werewolves are appearing in the Olympic Peninsula. Will this effect the Cullens? Will the Volturi become suspicious and pay a little visit to the small town?
