This tutorial will help all those non-savvy graphic members who need some guidance in resizing images and cropping them down to meet the site's size standards. We have had some trouble with member's graphics being to large and we regretfully have to remove them. Hopefully this will help prevent anymore graphics from being deleted!
1. First things first, if you do not own a photobucket account, you will need to make one. It's very simple and free of charge! You can do so by clicking this link and signing up for an account.
2.Once you have signed into your account you will need to upload the picture you would like to crop or resize (assuming you have already saved the image to your computer).
3. Return to your album where you have uploaded the picture and select the picture you want to work with. For this tutorial I will be using the picture of Mona Johanesson with leopard cub. Click on the picture and another page will open with a larger image of the one you selected. By running your mouse over the larger image you will get options to use your image for. Since this tutorial is about editing your image scroll over the edit option and click on the resize option. 4. A new window will open up where all of the resizing excitement will happen. I prefer to resize by percentages so that I have easier control of the size instead of guess-timating the dimensions of the picture. The picture will immediately resize to your settings so you can see the results right away without having to go through the whole process again. Once you have resized to your preference, don't forget to hit 'Apply' or your picture will not be saved to the new size. 5. Now to crop down your image to the appropriate size! After you have applied the last settings you should come back to the editing page where you can now select the crop tool. By selecting the tool you will now be able to crop down your image by dragging the tool across the image to get specific sizes. PLEASE REMEMBER THESE ARE THE APPROPRIATE SIZES THAT THE SITE WILL ACCEPT: Avatars: 100x100, 100x200Signatures: 500x300Forum images: 200x300, 400x2006. Last but not least! Don't forget to 'crop selected area' and save the changes. And there you go! Your image has now been resized and cropped! Now the staff can't get onto you about improper sizes -wink wink- If you had any trouble understanding this tutorial, or need help with any of the steps please let me or one of the staff members know and we will try to explain it in more detail.
