SPECIES NAME: Child of the Moon

APPEARANCE: Children of the moon look like normal humans; unlike their vampire enemies, they are not exceptionally beautiful unless they were in their human life. They do no particularly have anything really special about themselves with the exception of their eyes. Through most of the month, the eyes of a child of the moon are any normal color but as the full moon approaches, about a week before the night of the full moon, their eyes begin to take on a yellow pigment and on the day of the full moon, their eyes are completely yellow. All children of the moon’s eyes are yellow when they are in wolf form. Unlike shifters, children of the moon can ONLY transform into species of wolves—to be defined as a wolf, the scientific name must start with CANIS LUPUS, or it is not a wolf.

The wolves are obvious not your run of the mill wolves. The wolves are larger than even wolf shifters and the largest can be up to the size of a city bus, while the smallest are just slightly bigger than your average shifter. Typically, the females are significantly smaller than the males, as is true with most wolves with a few exceptions (specify if the wolf species you’re talking about has females that are larger)

HISTORY: It is unknown when the first child was created in the pale full moon light, but most predict that it was back beyond biblical times: some guess that with Adam and Eve, there were other creatures; one of them being the wolf men; others believe that, like the shifters, their people descend from wolves and thus have a direct bond with them—then there are a few that just say it was rogue deceased wolf that bite some poor man whose DNA was never the same again. The beginning of the legendary wolf man changes from countries to counties. Perhaps the most debatable sources come from religion and mythology. The only thing that is the same with all of the sources is that there was and still is children of the moon.

Millenniums ago, there were many children of the moon and they were all far spread. The one reason for the wide spread population was the obvious immortality that all shared. However, fate changed when one wolf came in contact with Caius Volturi. The battle nearly took the life of the brother and permanently left a mark on him. From that the children of the moon became outlaws in the eyes of the Volturi and when their existence was strong, they were hunted far and wide. The species was at the brink of extinction. Formerly they had been pretty strong units but for the best of the group and adaption purposes, they are no longer pack animals.

Now a day, there are very few children of the moon left. It is not often many meet one another, but occasionally, the supernatural are drawn together. There are some that still strife for pack like companionship and some just wish to be lone wolves.

DIET: Children of the moon eat the same as human when it’s not the full moon. They gain weight, they lose weight, and eating is a good part of this. However, the wolf half eats like, well, a wolf. This can mean small animals, big animals… people…

BABIES: Male children of the moon are able to reproduce for the entirety of their immortal lives while the women are restricted to the normal ages of a human’s menstrual reproductive stages. They are fertile until they’re about fifty five and then reproduction ceases as it would in the normal life of a human. Babies are born human and often, children of the moon choose to change them when they’re in their late teens and early twenties. It is not suggested to change one’s child any time before the age of maturity as the younger the individual, the younger the wolf inside. If one’s body is stuck in the body of a ten year old, the child will always be a puppy during the full moon. One should apply the vampire rules for the children of the moon when it comes to changing, NO IMMORTAL CHILDREN- VAMPIRE OR CHILD OF THE MOON

SPECIAL ABILITIES: Children of the moon shift under the full moon light. They are exceptionally powerful because their power saves up all month long before exploding in that one night. They jump from the bottom of the food chain to the top when they shift; however, they cannot full control themselves (read this little to none, it’s like training a dog, sometimes they learn, sometimes they don’t) and they cannot mind link.

NATURAL ENEMIES: Vampires of any kind; especially the Volturi.
